. The course also aims to examine the practical application of CALL in English language teaching in Japan.
II. Textbook
Martha C. Pennington ( ed. ).1996. The Power of CALL. Houston:Athelstan.
*Book review by Charles Kisner, Center for the Advancement of Language Learning, USA.
III. Tasks
@l. The students read the assingned part in the textbook and are prepared to present its summary and explanation. Also, they are encouraged to ask questions on the assigned reading.
@2. They read at least two articles on computer-assisnted language learning(CALL) in the journals on the Internet and in the department library and write their summary reports in English. Each summary should be in 600 to 800 words with the reader's comments. The two ariticles may be related to the semester paper explained in (3) below.
@3. They write a semester paper on CALL in 1500 to 2000 words in English. The paper can be on any aspect of CALL, for example, CALL in four language skills, analysis of teaching materials on the Internet, CALL and communicative language teaching, etc. They are encouraged to have a conference with the instructor on the choice of the paper topic.
