V. Tasks
- The students read the assigned part in the textbook and are prepared to present a summary and interpretation. They are also encouraged to ask questions about the assigned reading.
- They will visit the site by 「インターネット英語教材研究会」, read through teaching materials in the database there, and write a summary report in Japanese on the teaching materials of their choice.
- They will choose one article on English language teaching in the journals on the Internet and in the department library and write a summary in English. The summary should be in 600 to 800 words and include the reader's comments. The article may be related to the semester paper (see next point).
- They will write a semester paper on English language teaching in 3000 to 4000 words in English. The paper can be on any aspect of English language teaching: for example, language acquisition, learning strategies, evaluation, language skill development, teaching methodologies, classroom applications of theories and principles, etc. Students are encouraged to consult the instructor on the choice of the paper topic. It may be a good idea for the students to relate their semster papers to their M.A. theses.
