I. Objective
The task-based language teaching has been advocated over the last twenty years or so. In this course the students will be introduced to the principles which support the TBLT, variety of tasks, and ways to use them in classrooms. The students will also invited to select tasks, modify exisiting tasks, or even make their own tasks for specific teaching situations.

-Sheen, R. l994. A crictical analysis of the advocacy of the task-based syllabus. TESOL Quarterly, 28/1, 127-151.<The author maintains it is necessary to show "the greater effectiveness" of the TBS over other traditional approaches.>

III. Tasks
l. The students read the assingned part in the textbook and the reading materials and are prepared to present its summary and explanation. Also, they are encouraged to ask questions on the assigned reading.
2. They read at least two articles on the task-based language teaaching (TBLT) in the journals on the Internet and in the department library and write their summary reports in English. Each summary should be in 600 to 800 words with the reader's comments. The two ariticles may be related to the semester paper explained in (3) below.
3. They write a semester paper on the TABLT in 2500to 3000 words in English. They are encouraged to have a conference with the instructor on the choice of the paper topic.
