Guidance for prospective students in 2020

Congraturations to all prospective enrollees. We welcome you to enter Mie University.
This is a notice for those who are considering purchasing a new PC or Microsoft Office before entrance.
2. About Microsoft Office
Mie University has a Microsoft Office comprehensive license agreement.
If you are a student at the University, you can use Microsoft Office products for free (excluding media charges) while you are at the university.
Therefore, if you are a new entrant to the University and are considering purchasing a Microsoft Office product line or an Office pre-installed computer,
We recommend that you refrain from purchasing Microsoft Office products.
Microsoft Office products offerd:
The offered Office will be Office 365 ProPlus.
◆What is Office 365 ProPlus？
This is an annual contract method that uses almost the same Office as that generally sold. This right is provided to all current students.
This Office 365 ProPlus includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher, etc.。
It can be used on both Windows and Mac. The latest version is always available while the University is contracting.
Up to 15 devices can be used per person, with 5 computers and 5 tablets and 5 smartphones.
In addition, Office 365 services (OneDrive 1TB, etc.) will also be provided from the University dedicated website.

◆About Office preinstalled when purchasing a computer
Currently, there are two types of pre-installed Office products: the regular version (packaged product) Office and the names such as “Office *** Premium”.
And, Some Office products pay annual fees for Office 365 services (such as Office 365 Solo).Please be careful when purchasing.
The Office 365 ProPlus provided by the University is close to Office Premium, Office 365 Solo, etc., not the regular version of Office.
Countions
- You can use it only while you are in school. Cannot be used after graduation.
- This right applies to all students, but for new students from the Faculty of Bioresources, priority will be given to the information from the Faculty of Bioresources, so please follow those instructions.
- When using for the first time, you will need an ID and password called Mie University “Unified Account”.Since it will be distributed after April 2018, it cannot be used until then.
How to get
If you purchased a personal computer at Mie university cooperative, it is preinstalled.
For other users, download from the dedicated website on the Internet.
In both cases, the same product will be available after April 2018.

Personal computer is now required for new students since 2018.
